Jeera prices closed higher by 2.59 per cent on Thursday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the investors increased their holdings in the commodity in the midst limited arrivals from growing regions. At the NCDEX, jeera futures for December 2014 contract closed at Rs. 13,250 per quintal, up by 2.59 per cent, after opening at Rs. 13,000 against the previous closing price of Rs. 12,915. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 13,250. Sentiment improved further as a result of reduced domestic supplies in the physical markets and some export enquiries. Global output of Jeera is around 2.2 lakh MT per year, of which India produces about 1.5 lakh MT per year.

Coriander prices fell by 2.99 per cent on Friday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the adequate stocks availability in the physical market put pressure on coriander prices. At the NCDEX, coriander futures for December 2014 contract were trading at Rs. 12,020 per quintal, down by 2.99 per cent, after opening at Rs. 12,305 against the previous closing price of Rs. 12,391. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 12,020 till the trading. (At 11.45 AM today). Sentiment weakened further as speculators reduced their positions on the back of sluggish demand in the market.
