Mentha oil prices fell by 0.60 per cent on Wednesday at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) as a result of the increased arrivals of the commodity in the physical market from the major producing belts in Uttar Pradesh. At MCX, Mentha oil futures for January 2015 contract, at MCX, were trading at Rs. 730.50 per kg, down by 0.60 per cent after opening at Rs. 733.40 against the previous closing price of Rs. 734.90. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 729.30 till the trading. (At 2.45 PM).
JEERA
Jeera prices closed lower by 4 per cent on Tuesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) on account of a surge in the supply from the producing regions in the midst of a decline in the export demand. At the NCDEX, jeera futures for February 2015 contract closed at Rs. 14,775 per quintal, down by 4 per cent, after opening at Rs. 15,405 against the previous closing price of Rs. 15,390. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 14,775. Global output of Jeera is around 2.2 lakh MT per year, of which India produces about 1.5 lakh MT per year.
