Agri tips & updates : Prices of Chana locked high by 1.79 per-cent on yesterday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the traders expanded their holdings in the commodity on account of the good demand in the market.
At the NCDEX, October 2015 contract for chana futures closed at Rs. 5,180 per quintal, up by 1.79 per-cent, after opening at Rs. 5,151 in comparison to the last closing price of Rs. 5,089. It attained the intra-day high of 5,187.
Besides this, the prohibited arrivals of the commodity in the physical market because of lower estimated outcome also influenced the chana prices.
Our country is the biggest producer of chickpea then Pakistan, Turkey & Iran. Country produces nearly 6 to 8 million tonnes & contributes around 70 per-cent of the total world production.
