Agri tips : Prices of Jeera ended high by 0.1 per-cent on Thursday last week at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the investors increased their holdings in the commodity in the midst limited arrivals from growing regions. At the NCDEX,October 2015 contract for jeera futures closed at Rs. 15,670 per quintal, up by 0.1 per-cent, after opening at Rs. 15,710 in against with the previous closing price of Rs. 15,655. It attained the intra-day high of Rs. 15,845.

Sentiment improved further as a result of reduced native supplies in the physical markets & some export enquiries.
The commodity markets were shut on Oct 2, 2015 on account of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the leader of India's fight for independence from British rule.
Global outcome of Jeera is around 2.2 lakh MT every year, of which India produces about 1.5 lakh MT per year. India exports Jeera mainly to the US, UK, UAE, Singapore, Japan, Brazil, Bangladesh & many other countries. Besides this, other major exporters are Syria and Turkey.
