Agri Tips : On Friday, Jeera prices closed lower by 1.28 % at the
National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) on
account of a surge in the supply from the producing areas in the
midst of a decrease in the export requirement. At the NCDEX, July
2015 contract of jeera futures closed at Rs. 15,825 per quintal, down
by 1.28 %, after opening at Rs. 16,005 against the preceding closing
price of Rs. 16,030. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 15,800.
Worldwide output of Jeera is around 2.2 lakh MT
yearly, of which India manufactures about 1.5 lakh MTyearly. Jeera is
exported by India mainly to the US, Singapore, UK, Japan, UAE,
Bangladesh, Brazil & other countries. Besides this, Major
exporters are Turkey and Syria .
