On Monday, Maize prices closed higher by 0.24 % at
the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as
a result of a increase in the requirement from exporters &
poultry industries. At the NCDEX, August 2015 contract for maize
futures closed at Rs. 1,263 per quintal, up by 0.24 %, after opening
at Rs. 1,260 against the preceding closing price of Rs. 1,260. It
attained the intra-day high of Rs. 1,264.
China, US and Brazil are the top three maize
producing countries in the world while the important exporters of
maize are USA, Argentina and Brazil. Chief importers are Malaysia,
Japan, EU, Taiwan and Indonesia etc.
