Agri tips - Price of Jeera closed higher by 0.03 per-cent on Friday last week at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the investors enlarged their holdings in the commodity in the midst limited arrivals from growing regions. At the NCDEX, jeera futures for October 2015 contract closed at Rs. 15,830 per quintal, up by 0.03 per-cent, after opening at Rs. 15,895 in against with the previous closing price of Rs. 15,825. It reached the intra-day high of Rs. 16,045.
Sentiment improved further as a result of reduced native supplies in the physical markets & some export enquiries.
World-wide output of Jeera is around to be 2.2 lakh MT yearly, of which India produces about 1.5 lakh MT every year. India exports Jeera mainly to the US, UAE, UK, Japan, Singapore, Brazil, Bangladesh and many other countries. Besides this, other Major exporters are Syria & Turkey.
