Tips & updates : RBI, SEBs to file AIR on remittances, power consumption

Today, the revenue department asked the Reserve bank to file Annual Information Return (AIR) Click for Options tips on certain foreign remittances and state electricity boards on power used by several kind of steel makers.

Expert said the directive is aimed at using the AIR route to detect cases of Service Tax and Excise evasion. Over the last few years, the govt has been gathering information from third party sources to detect cases of incorrect declarations & tax evasion.

CBEC - A notification in this regard is issued by the Central Board of Excise and Customs in the Finance Ministry. "The medium of AIR has been extensively used in case of income tax and in latest times has been expanded to indirect taxes as well. In continuation of the same the govt declared two new categories of regulators who would be required to submit an AIR from the up coming fiscal year," M S Mani, Deloitte India, told.

Natural Gas ascend by over 3% in domestic market 24 Dec, 2015

Natural Gas futures ascend by over 3 per-cent in the native market on yesterday amid hopes that frigid weather in parts of the US(United States) may increase winter heating demand for the fuel in the world’s biggest gas consuming nation.

Latest weather forecasting models have called for cold weather across the US Midwest in end December, raising hopes of a increase in requirement for gas-fired heating at offices and homes.

Around 49 per-cent of US households use natural gas for heating purposes. November to March is the peak United States gas heating season.

At the MCX, Natural Gas futures for Dec 2015 contract ended at Rs 128.8 per mmBtu, up by 3.37 per-cent, after unlocking at Rs 125.4, against the previous closing price of Rs 124.6. It attained an intra-day high of Rs 129.4

Castor seed : Today Castor seed prices fell down by 0.64 per-cent at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of new supply of the commodity in the major mandies as well as strong production estimates.

NCDEX : January 2016 contract for Castor seed futures was trading at Rs. 3,863 per quintal tonnes, down by 0.64 per-cent, after unlocking at Rs. 3,882 against the preceding closing price of Rs. 3,888. It reached the intra-day low of Rs. 3,852 till the trading time.

world wide output of Jeera is nearly 2.2 lakh MT each year, of which India produces about 1.5 lakh MT yearly.

Mcx update : Copper surges on supply cuts

Maize & Mustard seed closed low due to weak demand 10 Dec, 2015

Maize prices closed down by 1.16% on yesterday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of heavy selling activity by the traders on account of higher global supplies & weak erofftakes from the local buyers.

Today, Crude oil futures plummeted over 1 per-cent in the native market while tumbling to a 6 year low in the overseas market as investors, observers and speculators regained to a heavy sell-off in the energy commodity amidst continued fears that a global oil glut may exacerbate due to the fallout of the OPEC’s decision to maintain production at high levels, and sluggish world wide growth of economy which may weaken requirement.

Barley , Jeera closed low today 8 Dec, 2015

Prices of Barley closed low by 1.08 per-cent yesterday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the investors booked profits at the higher on account of the weak physical markets and also due to the fell down in the requirement from beer and cattle-feed makers. At the NCDEX, barley futures for December 2015 contract closed at Rs. 1,460 per quintal, down by 1.08 per cent, after opening at Rs. 1,480 against the previous closing price of Rs. 1,476. It attained the intra-day low of Rs. 1,452.5.

Sentiment weakened further on account of a surge in the arrivals of the commodity along with the inactive requirement on higher levels. 

At MCX, Jeera prices ended lower by 1.65 per-cent on yesterday on account of a surge in the supply from the producing regions in the midst of a decline in the export requirement.

US crude hovers above $40, Crude tips for 3 Dec, 2015

Zinc futures fell by 0.86 per-cent today, 02 Dec, 2015

Zinc futures fell by 0.86 per-cent to Rs 104.30 per kg today as speculators decreased positions in the midst of a weak trend globally. Besides this, low demand in native spot markets fuelled the downtrend. 

Zinc futures for Dec 2015 contract, at MCX, were trading at Rs 104.30 per kg, down by 0.86 per-cent after opening at Rs. 104.65 against the previous closing price of Rs. 105.20. It reached the intra-day low of Rs. 103.80 till the trading. (At 4.08 PM today). 

Moreover, losses were limited due to the decline in the zinc stockpiles at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on account of the strong requirement for the commodity. LME zinc stocks fell by 2600 metric tonnes to 540000 metric tonnes as on Dec 2, 2015.

Major refined zinc exporting countries are Canada, Australia and Rep. of Korea, while major refined zinc importing countries includes USA, China and Germany.

Copper slumps on sluggish 2 Dec, 2015

Today, prices of Copper fell down by 0.35 per-cent after producing activity in the US(United States)contracted at the fastest pace since July 2009 in Nov, dampening optimism over the strength of the economy and fanning hopes the Fed Reserve could delay increasing interest rates until upcoming year.

The Institute for Supply Management said its index of purchasing managers fell to 48.6 previous month from a reading of 50.1 in Oct. At the MCX, copper futures for February 2016 contract were trading at Rs.309.25 per 1 kg, down by 0.35 per-cent, after opening at Rs. 310.05 against the previous closing price of Rs. 310.35. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 308.50 till the time of trade. (At 4.30 PM today).

Moreover, losses were limited due to the sharp decline in the copper stockpiles at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on account of the strong demand for the commodity. LME copper stocks fell down by 3825 metric tonnes to 239200 metric tonnes as on Dec 2, 2015.

Agri tips & updates : Barley prices ended high by 0.45 per-cent on yesterday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of strong requirement from beer & cattle-feed making industries against prohibited supply in physical markets. November 2015 contract at the NCDEX, barley futures closed at Rs. 1,438 per quintal, went up by 0.45 per-cent, after unlocking at Rs. 1,428 in against to the previous closing price of Rs. 1,431.5. It reached the intra-day high of Rs. 1,446.

The consumption requirement for Barley in country mainly comes for malt, animal feed & poultry. Barley malt is majorly used for the manufacturing of alcoholic beverages in the country.

Ncdex Trading : Cardamom prices fell down by 0.13 27Oct, 2015

Cardamom - Trading tips for today, prices fell down by 0.13 per-cent at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) due to the adequate stocks availability in the physical market on account of more supply from the producing belts of Chandausi in UP(Uttar Pradesh). November 2015 contract at MCX for Cardamom futures were trading at Rs. 775 per kg, went down by 0.13 per-cent, after unlocking at 771.10 against the previous closing price of Rs. 776.

Mcx crude tips : Crude oil futures ended lower in the native market on yesterday after number of people who filed for unemployment assistance in the US rose last week, holding close to the lowest level in 42 years indicating a weak labor market in US(United States), world’s biggest consumer of crude oil which reduced the demand outlook for the fuel. The US(United States) Department of Labor said the number of individuals filing for initial jobless benefits in the week ending 17th October increased by 3,000 to a seasonally adjusted 259,000 from the previous week’s total of 256,000. Sentiment weakened further after US crude oil inventories rose more-than-expected last month.

In a report, Energy Information Administration told that US Crude Oil Inventories rose to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 8.028M, from 7.562M in the preceding month. At the MCX, November 2015 contract for Crude oil futures, closed at Rs 2,951 per barrel, down by 0.71 per-cent, after opening at Rs 2,983, in comparison to the previous close price of Rs 2,972. It reached an intraday low of Rs 2,943.

At the NCDEX, October 2015 contract for chana futures closed at Rs. 5,180 per quintal, up by 1.79 per-cent, after opening at Rs. 5,151 in comparison to the last closing price of Rs. 5,089. It attained the intra-day high of 5,187.

Besides this, the prohibited arrivals of the commodity in the physical market because of lower estimated outcome also influenced the chana prices.

Our country is the biggest producer of chickpea then Pakistan, Turkey & Iran. Country produces nearly 6 to 8 million tonnes & contributes around 70 per-cent of the total world production.
