NCDEX Agri Tips for March 28, 2014

CARDAMOM
  • Amid strong domestic and export demand, cardamom prices rose by 1.02 per cent to Rs 882.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.
  • At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May rose by Rs 8.90, or 1.02 per cent to Rs 882.80 per kg in a business turnover of 254 lots.
  • Similarly, the spice for delivery in April traded higher by Rs 4.70, or 0.54 per cent to Rs 868.80 per kg in 605 lots.
  • Analysts said fresh positions built-up by speculators on the back strong domestic and export demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from growing regions, mainly led to rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.

NCDEX Agri Tips for March 24, 2014

  • Mentha oil extended gains and prices rose further by 3 per cent to hit upper circuit at Rs 937.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created positions largely driven by strong demand from pharmaceutical industries in the spot markets.
  • At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in April gained Rs 27.30, or 3.00 per cent, to Rs 937.80 per kg, with a trading volume of 155 lots.
  • Similarly, the oil for delivery in March edged up by Rs 26.90, or 2.99 per cent, to Rs 926.20 per kg, With a business turnover of 409 lots.
  • Marketmen said a firming trend at the spot markets on the back of demand from pharmaceutical industries amid restricted supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade here.

NCDEX Agri Tips for March 07, 2014

CORIANDER
  • Amid weak domestic demand and adequate supplies from producing regions, coriander prices traded lower by 1.11 per cent to Rs 9,345 per quintal in futures trade today.
  • At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, coriander for delivery in April declined by Rs 105, or 1.11 per cent, to Rs 9,345 per quintal with an open interest of 39,470 lots.
  • Similarly, the spice for delivery in May lost Rs 103, or 1.07 per cent, to Rs 9,518 per quintal in 34,470 lots.
  • Market analysts said weak spot market demand against adequate supplies from producing regions mainly kept pressure on coriander prices in futures trade.
SUGAR
  • Sugar futures traded 1.11 per cent higher at Rs 2,816 per quintal today today as participants indulged in creating speculative positions driven by fall in production amid rising spot demand.
  • At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, sugar for delivery in March traded Rs 31, or 1.11 per cent higher at Rs 2,816 per quintal with an open interest of 22,920 lots.
  • On the similar lines, the sweetner for delivery in April traded higher by Rs 30, or 1.05 per cent to Rs 2,887 per quintal in 30,200 lots.

NCDEX Agri Tips for February 21, 2014

CORIANDER


  • Amid rising domestic demand and restricted arrivals from producing regions, coriander prices rose by 0.57 per cent to Rs 8,075 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions.
  • At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, coriander for delivery in February rose by Rs 46, or 0.57 per cent, to Rs 8,075 per quintal with an open interest of 1,980 lots.
  • Similarly, the spice for delivery in April edged up by Rs 7, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 8,938 per quintal in 45,190 lots.
  • Market analysts said increased buying by speculators on the back of rising spot market demand against restricted arrivals from producing belts mainly helped coriander prices to trade higher at futures trade.

India soybean futures dropped on Wednesday as a result of profit booking despite weak Indian currency and concerns over crop damage in key soybean growing areas due to excess rain fall activities.

Soybean futures for December delivery on India's National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) was seen trading with a loss of 1.13% at Rs.3920 per 100 kgs as of 13.14 IST on Wednesday.

Lead prices traded lower by 0.55 per cent to Rs 135.20 per kg in futures market today as speculators reduced their positions due to sluggish demand from battery makers in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in December declined by 75 paise, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 135.20 per kg in business turnover of 81 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in November shed 70 paise, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 134.10 per kg in 2,527 lots.

Analysts attributed the weakness in lead futures to offloading of positions by speculators on sluggish demand from battery-maker in the spot market.

Zinc prices moved down by 0.33 per cent to Rs 119.25 per kg in futures trade today as speculators

Cardamom prices fell by Rs 8.60 to Rs 706.60 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits amid subdued demand in the spot market.

Adequate stocks following increased arrivals from producing regions also put pressure on cardamom prices in futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in November fell by Rs 8.60, or 1.20 per cent, to Rs 706.60 per kg, with a business turnover of 805 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in December declined by Rs 3, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 742 per kg with a business turnover of 264 lots.

Market analysts said besides profit-booking at existing higher levels, a fall in demand in the spot market put pressure on cardamom prices in futures trade.

Lead prices traded marginally higher by 0.37 per cent to Rs 134.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions after a rise in demand from battery-maker in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in October traded higher by 50 paise, or 0.37 per cent, to Rs 134.80 per kg in business turnover of 3,474 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in November edged up by 35 paise, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 136.05 per kg in 441 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators on the back of a rise in demand from battery-maker in the spot market mainly helped lead prices to trade higher in futures trade.

Nickel prices moved up by 0.55 per cent to Rs 895.50 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by pick up in demand from alloy-maker in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in October rose by Rs 4.90, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 895.50 per kg in business turnover of 2,815 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in November moved up by Rs 4.30, or 0.48 per cent, to Rs 902.30 per kg in 367 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in nickel futures to pick up in demand from alloy-maker in the spot market.

Coriander prices moved up by 0.71 per cent to Rs 6,958 per quintal in futures trade today on pick up in demand in the spot market against tight supplies on limited arrivals from producing regions.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, coriander for delivery in December moved up by Rs 49, or 0.71 per cent, to Rs 6,958 per quintal with an open interest of 7,320 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in November traded higher by Rs 37, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 6,775 per quintal in 20,440 lots.

Market analysts said besides pick up in demand in the spot market, tight supplies following less arrivals from producing regions also influenced coriander prices at futures trade.

Jeera futures hit a contract low on Thursday due to hopes of a greater area under cultivation, higher than-expected spot supplies and stocks from the old crop.

At 0934 GMT, the actively traded jeera contract for November delivery was down 0.14 per cent at Rs 12,610 per 100 kg on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, (NCDEX) after hitting a contract low of 12,525 rupees earlier. It has fallen more than 13 percent between September 3 and October 23. The most-actively traded turmeric contract for November delivery was down 0.78 per cent at Rs 4,864 per 100 kg on the NCDEX.

Jeera prices gained 0.73 per cent to Rs 12,727.50 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by rising demand in the spot market amid lower arrivals from producing regions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in November month gained Rs 92.50, or 0.73 per cent, to Rs 12,727.50 per quintal with an open interest of 10,173 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in December traded up by Rs 82.50, or 0.64 per cent, to Rs 12,930 per quintal in 3,042 lots.

Turmeric prices rose 1.52 per cent to Rs 4,954 per quintal in futures market today as speculators enlarged positions on the back of export demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in December rose by Rs 74, or 1.52 per cent, to Rs 4,954 per quintal with open interest of 7,935 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in November went up by Rs 56, or 1.17 per cent, to Rs 4,848 per quintal in 14,690 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in October edged up 60 paise, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 706.50 per kg in 546 lots.

Mentha oil prices moved up by 0.18 per cent to Rs 870.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions amid rising demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

Besides, tight supplies in the physical market following less arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in October month rose by 1.60, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 870.80 per kg in business turnover of 206 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in November edged up by Rs 1.30, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 884.50 per kg in 6 lots.

Coriander prices rose by 2.65 per cent to Rs 5,919 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by pick-up in spot demand against tight stocks position on restricted arrivals.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, coriander for November gained Rs 153, or 2.65 per cent, to Rs 5,919 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,220 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in October traded higher by Rs 147, or 2.62 per cent, to Rs 5,764 per quintal, with an open interest of 18,290 lots.

Cardamom prices fell by 0.79 per cent to Rs 777.30 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels driven by subdued demand in the spot market.

Further, adequate stocks availability in the spot market following fresh arrivals also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom prices for deliv ery in November declined by Rs 6.20, or 0.79 per cent, to Rs 777.30 per kg with a business turnover of 88 lots.

Likewise, the spice prices for delivery in October shed Rs 4.30, or 0.58 per cent, to Rs 736.30 per kg in 454 lots.
