TURMERIC
Turmeric prices surged over 1 per cent to Rs 6,530 per quintal in futures trade today after speculators enlarged positions amidst rising exports demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in September rose by Rs 68, or 1.05 per cent, to Rs 6,530 per quintal with an open interest of 14,410 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in October gained Rs 56, or 0.84 per cent, to Rs 6,690 per quintal in 4,780 lots.

Analysts said speculators enlarged positions, taking positive cues from the spot market on rising exports demand mainly led to the rise in turmeric prices at futures trade.

CARDAMOM
Cardamom prices rose 1.14 per cent to Rs 911 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions amid a firm trend at spot market on rising domestic and export demand.
 

Besides, tight supplies from producing regions in the physical market, further fuelled the uptrend.
 

Cardamom for delivery in September rose by Rs 10.30, or 1.14 per cent, to Rs 911 per kg in a business turnover of 153 lots.
 

Likewise, the spice for delivery in August gained Rs 3.60, or 0.39 per cent, to Rs 930.50 per kg in
51 lots.


TURMERIC
Continuing its rising streak for the third day, mentha oil prices rose 0.33 per cent to Rs 728.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators engaged in enlarging positions amid rising demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in September gained Rs 2.40, or 0.33 per cent, to Rs 728.20 per kg in a business turnover of 77 lots. In a similar fashion, the oil for delivery in August edged up by Rs 2.10, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 716 per kg in 337 lots.

TODAY CHANA AND TURMERIC TIPS FOR 05 AUGUST 2014

CHANA
Chana prices fell 0.69 per cent to Rs 2,871 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions amidst increased supplies from producing regions in the spot market against weak demand.
 

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in September moved down by Rs 20, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 2,871 per quintal with an open interest of 1,15,010 lots.
 

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in August traded lower by Rs 18, or 0.64 per cent, to Rs 2,787 per quintal in 92,020 lots.

TURMERIC
Turmeric prices shot up by 2.29 per cent to Rs 6,780 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators indulged in creating fresh positions amid rising demand in the spot market.
 

Besides, tight stocks position in the physical market following fall in supplies from producing regions also supported the upside in turmeric prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in September spurted by Rs 152, or 2.29 per cent, to Rs 6,780 per quintal with an open interest of 6,560 lots.
 

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August gained Rs 128, or 1.99 per cent, to Rs 6,548 per quintal in 11,265 lots.

JEERA
Jeera prices moved down by 0.45 per cent to Rs 11,080 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators indulged in offloading positions amidst sluggish demand in spot market.
 

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in July lost Rs 50, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 11,080 per quintal with an open interest of 3,747 lots.
 

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in June shed Rs 45, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 10,995 per quintal in 7,200 lots.
 

TURMERIC
Turmeric showed weakness for the third day as prices fell by another 1.55 per cent to Rs 6,106 per quintal in futures trade today on weak domestic as well as export demand against adequate supplies from producing belts.
 

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in July fell further by Rs 96, or 1.55 per cent, to Rs 6,106 per quintal with an open interest of 3,180 lots.
 

Similarly, the spice for delivery in June lost Rs 86, or 1.42 per cent, to Rs 5,970 per quintal in 13,305 lots.

NCDEX Agri Tips for April 25, 2014

MUSTARD SEED 
  • Mustard seed prices closed higher by 0.66 per cent on Tuesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of the decline in the supply for the commodity in the major markets. 
  • At the NCDEX, mustard seed futures for May 2014 contract closed at Rs. 3,510 per quintal, up by 0.66 per cent, after opening at Rs. 3,493 against the previous closing price of Rs. 3,487.
  • It touched the intraday high of Rs. 3,515. India produces 5.5 million MT to7 million MT annually and about 0.15 million MT is retained for sowing and direct consumption as seed which leaves about 4.8-5.1 million MT for crushing and extracting oil. 
CORIANDER 
  • Coriander prices closed lower by 0.21 per cent on Tuesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the adequate stocks availability in the physical market put pressure on coriander prices. 
  • At the NCDEX, coriander futures for May 2014 contract closed at Rs. 9,712 per quintal, down by 0.21 per cent, after opening at Rs. 9,705 against the previous closing price of Rs. 9,732.

NCDEX Agri Tips for April 23, 2014

JEERA 

  • Jeera prices closed higher by 1.23 per cent on Tuesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the investors increased their holdings in the commodity in the midst limited arrivals from growing regions.
  • At the NCDEX, jeera futures for May 2014 contract closed at Rs. 10,290 per quintal, up by 1.23 per cent, after opening at Rs. 10,155 against the previous closing price of Rs. 10,290. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 10,330. 
  • Sentiment improved further as a result of reduced domestic supplies in the physical markets and some export enquiries. 
  • Global output of Jeera is around 2.2 lakh MT per year, of which India produces about 1.5 lakh MT per year.
  • India exports Jeera mainly to the US, UK, UAE, Japan, Brazil, Bangladesh, Singapore and many other countries. Other Major exporters are Syria and Turkey.

NCDEX Agri Tips for April 21, 2014

CORIANDER 
  • Coriander prices rose by 0.67 per cent to Rs 9,635 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions on rising demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing belts. 
  • At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, coriander for delivery in May rose by Rs 64, or 0.67 per cent, to Rs 9,635 per quintal with an open interest of 42,020 lots. 
  • Similarly, the spice for delivery in June gained Rs 59, or 0.60 per cent, to Rs 9,836 per quintal in 27,030 lots. 
TURMERIC 
  • Turmeric prices moved down by 1.35 per cent to Rs 6,556 per quintal in futures market as speculators booked profits after fall in demand at prevailing levels in the spot market. 
  • However, reports of rain damaging the crop in growing areas of South India restricted the fall. 
  • At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in May fell by Rs 90, or 1.35 per cent, to Rs 6,556 per quintal with an open interest of 12,565 lots. 
  • Likewise, the spice for delivery in April lost Rs 78, or 1.18 per cent, to Rs 6,525 per quintal in 12,565 lots.

NCDEX Agri Tips for April 16, 2014

JEERA 
  • Jeera prices surged by 1.38 per cent to Rs 9,925 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions on the back of strong demand in the spot market. However, expectations of higher output restricted the gains. 
  • At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April jumped up by Rs 135, or 1.38 per cent, to Rs 9,925 per quintal with an open interest of 519 lots. 
  • Similarly, the spice for delivery in May shot up by Rs 120, or 1.21 per cent, to Rs 10,050 per quintal in 9,960 lots. 
TURMERIC 
  • Turmeric prices hit upper limit in futures trade trade by surging 4 per cent to Rs 6,502 per quintal as speculators enlarged positions triggered by a pick-up in export demand. 
  • At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in April shot up by Rs 250, or 4 per cent, to Rs 6,502 per quintal with an open interest of 420 lots. 
  • Similarly, the spice for delivery in May moved up by Rs 252, or 3.99 per cent, to Rs 6,572 per quintal in 12,600 lots. Analysts said strong export demand in the spot markets helped turmeric futures to hit an upper circuits by surging 4 per cent as speculators enlarged positions.
