Agri tips & updates : Natural Gas futures expands losses 8 Sep, 2015

Agri tips & updates : Natural Gas futures closed low in the native market on yesterday as investors and speculators cut risky bets in the energy commodity as traders weighed mixed weather forecasts which offered little clarity over the requirement outlook in the world’s largest fuel consumer, the US.

While newly weather forecasting models called for hot weather across most parts of the southern US, cooler temperatures were expected to engulf most parts of the Great Lakes, Northeast and Midwest-regions as the week progresses.

Around 49 per-cent of US(United states) households use natural gas for cooling motives. Natural Gas is helpful in firing up power plants as need for cooling arises at offices and homes at the time of hot weather.


At the MCX,  September 2015 contract for Natural Gas futures closed at Rs 177.90 per mmBtu,  0.28 per-cent down after opening at Rs 178.80, against its recent closing price of Rs 178.40. It reached the intra-day low of Rs 177.60 till the time of closing.

Todays Agri Tips & Updates : Jeera Prices Ended High By 0.76%

Agri tips - Jeera prices closed higher by 0.76 per cent on Monday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the investors increased their holdings in the commodity in the midst limited arrivals from growing regions. At the NCDEX, jeera futures for August 2015 contract closed at Rs. 15,230 per quintal, up by 0.76 per cent, after opening at Rs. 15,100 against the previous closing price of Rs. 15,115.

It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 15,300.Sentiment improved further as a result of reduced domestic supplies in the physical markets and some export enquiries.Global output of Jeera is around 2.2 lakh MT / year, of which India produces about 1.5 lakh MT / year. India exports Jeera mainly to the UAE,US, UK, Brazil, Japan,Singapore , Bangladesh, and many other countries. Other Major exporters areTurkey and Syria .

CASTORSEED
Castorseed prices fell by 0.38 per cent on Thursday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of fresh supply of the commodity in the major mandies as well as strong production estimates .At the NCDEX, castor seed futures for February 2015 contract was trading at Rs. 3,985 per quintal tonnes, down by 0.38 per cent, after opening at Rs. 3,986 against the previous closing price of Rs. 4,000. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 3,971 till the trading. (At 12.17 PM).

MUSTARD SEED
Mustard Seed prices closed lower by 0.72 per cent on Wednesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of the profit booking by the traders on account of the weak crushing and export demand of mustard meal. At the NCDEX, Mustard Seed futures for April 2015 contract closed at Rs. 3,314 per quintal, down by 0.72 per cent, after opening at Rs. 3,345 against the previous closing price of Rs. 3,338. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 3,296 Sentiment weakened further due to the sluggish export demand as a result of the weak demand for the commodity. EU-27 accounts to about 34 per cent of worlds RM seed production, others major producers are China (23 per cent), Canada (19 per cent), India (14 per cent), Australia (3 per cent), Ukraine (2 per cent). India produces 5.5 million MT to7 million MT annually.

CORIANDER
Coriander prices fell by 0.72 per cent on Tuesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the adequate stocks availability in the physical market put pressure on coriander prices. At the NCDEX, coriander futures for December 2014 contract were trading at Rs. 12,692 per quintal, down by 0.72 per cent, after opening at Rs. 12,790 against the previous closing price of Rs. 12,784. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 12,670 till the trading. (At 12.20 PM).

CASTOR SEED
Castorseed prices rose by 0.24 per cent on Tuesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of the rise in demand from consuming industries against restricted arrivals in domestic markets which in turn encouraged the investors to enlarge their holdings. At the NCDEX, castor seed futures for December 2014 contract were trading at Rs. 4,527 per quintal tonnes, up by 0.24 per cent, after opening at Rs. 4,515 against the previous closing price of Rs. 4,516. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 4,559 till the trading. (At 3.40 PM).

NCDEX TIPS FOR THE WEEK AS 01 NOVEMBER 2014

CHANA
Chana prices closed higher 3.06 per cent on Thursday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the traders enlarged their holdings in the commodity on account of the good demand in the market. At the NCDEX, chana futures for November 2014 contract closed at Rs. 3,136 per quintal, up by 3.06 per cent, after opening at Rs. 3,055 against the previous closing price of Rs. 3,043. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 3,156. Moreover, the restricted arrivals of the commodity in the physical market due to lower estimated output also influenced the chana prices. India is the largest producer of chickpea followed by Pakistan, Turkey and Iran. India produces around 6 to 8 million tonnes and contributes around 70 per cent of the total world production.

CORIANDER
Coriander prices rose by 0.31 per cent on Friday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of the limited stocks on account of restricted arrivals from the major growing belts. At the NCDEX, coriander futures for November 2014 contract was trading at Rs.  12,005 per quintal, up by 0.31 per cent after opening at Rs. 11,930 against the previous closing price of Rs. 11,968. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 12,030 till the trading. (At 11.45 AM today). Sentiment improved further as the investors enlarged their holdings tracking the surge in the demand for the commodity. Coriander is common in South Asian, Middle Eastern, Central Asian, Mediterranean, Indian, Tex-Mex, Latin American, Portuguese, Chinese, African, and Scandinavian cuisine.

CARDAMOM
Cardamom prices rose by 1.63 per cent on Wednesday at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on account of good buying support from both exporters and upcountry buyers and also on hopes of improved export demand. At MCX, Cardamom futures for September 2014 contract were trading at Rs 940.90 per kg, up by 1.63 per cent, after opening at Rs. 926 against the previous closing price of Rs. 925.80. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 943.90 till the trading. (At 10.41 AM today).

CORIANDER
Coriander prices rose by 0.43 per cent on Wednesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of the limited stocks on account of restricted arrivals from the major growing belts. At the NCDEX, coriander futures for September 2014 contract was trading at Rs. 12,016 per quintal, up by 0.43 per cent after opening at Rs. 11,992 against the previous closing price of Rs. 11,965. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 12,027 till the trading. (At 11.31 AM today).

NCDEX Agri Tips for April 04, 2014

JEERA
  • Jeera prices gained 0.70 per cent to Rs 10,005 per quintal in futures trade today after speculators enlarged positions supported by rising spot demand.
  • However, expectations of higher output capped the gains. At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April gained Rs 70, or 70 per cent, to Rs 10,005 per quintal with an open interest of 7,242 lots.
  • Similarly, the spice for delivery in May moved up by Rs 60, or 0.60 per cent, to Rs 10,110 per quintal in 6,459 lots.

CORIANDER

  • Coriander prices fell 0.73 per cent to Rs 9,546 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators trimmed positions, driven by lower demand in the spot market against higher supplies from producing belts.
  • At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, coriander for delivery in April fell by Rs 70, or 0.73 per cent, to Rs 9,546 per quintal with an open interest of 15,960 lots. 
  • In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in May traded lower by Rs 71, or 0.73 per cent, to Rs 9,722 per quintal in 42,410 lots.

NCDEX Agri Tips for April 03, 2014

CARDAMOM
  • Cardamom prices rose for the third straight day by adding 0.72 per cent to Rs 917.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions, supported by strong demand in the spot market.
  • At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May added Rs 6.60, or 0.72 per cent, to Rs 917.20 per kg in a business turnover of 234 lots.
  • Similarly, the spice for delivery in April gained Rs 3.80, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 871.40 per kg in 153 lots.
  • Analysts said speculators enlarged positions on strong demand in the spot market against tight supplies from producing regions that mainly led to an upward trend in cardamom prices at futures trade.

  • Chana prices moved down by 0.46 per cent to Rs 3,276 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels driven by subdued demand in the spot market.
  • At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in April declined by Rs 15, or 0.46 per cent to Rs 3,276 per quintal with an open interest of 60,930 lots.
  • Likewise, the commodity for delivery in May contract traded lower by Rs 15, or 0.45 per cent to Rs 3,333 per quintal in 49,720 lots.
TURMERIC
  • Turmeric prices fell by 1.80 per cent to Rs 6,220 per quintal in futures market today as speculators trimmed positions, tracking sluggish demand in spot market.
  • At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in April fell by Rs 114, or 1.80 per cent to Rs 6,220 per quintal with an open interest of 14,295 lots.
  • Similarly, the spice for delivery in May lost Rs 100, or 1.56 per cent to Rs 6,310 per quintal in 7165 lots.

NCDEX Agri Tips for March 20, 2014

  • Jeera prices rose by 0.30 per cent to Rs 9,940 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions after pick up in demand in spot market.
  • Howevever, expectations of higher output this year capped the rise.
  • At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in March rose by Rs 30, or 0.30 per cent to Rs 9,940 per quintal with an open interest of 345 lots.
  • Similarly, the spice for delivery in April traded higher by the same margin to Rs 10015 per quintal in 9864 lots.
  • Analysts attributed the rise in jeera futures to pick up in demand in the spot market but expectations of higher output limited the gains.

NCDEX Agri Tips for March 18, 2014

TURMERIC
  • Turmeric prices fell by 1.51 per cent to Rs 6,908 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions due to sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate supplies from producing belts.
  • At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in May fell by Rs 106, or 1.51 per cent, to Rs 6,908 per quintal with an open interest of 6,085 lots.
  • Similarly, the spice for delivery in April traded lower by Rs 98, or 1.42 per cent, to Rs 6,824 per quintal in 19,180 lots.
  • Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators on the back of sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate supplies from producing regions mainly pulled down turmeric prices at futures trade.

  • Chana prices rose by 1.26 per cent to Rs 3,209 per quintal in futures trade today as traders enlarged their holdings on account of good demand in spot markets amid reports of damage to its crop due to recent rains.
  • At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for April delivery rose by Rs 40, or 1.26 per cent, to Rs 3,209 per quintal, with an open interest for 87,800 lots
  • Similarly, chana for delivery in May increased by Rs 37, or 1.15 per cent, to Rs 3,247 per quintal, with an open interest of 36,070 lots.
  • Market analysts said besides good demand, reports of damage to crop due to recent rains in growing regions, particularly Madhya Pradesh, influenced chana prices in futures trade.

NCDEX Agri Tips for March 05, 2014

  • Cardamom futures fell 0.51 per cent to Rs 773.90 per kg today as traders reduced their holdings amid sluggish spot demand.
  • Besides, sufficient stocks position in the physical market also weighed on the prices.
  • At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for March contract declined by Rs 4, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 773.90 per kg with a business turnover of 370 lots.
  • The spice for delivery in April fell by Rs 2.30, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 809 per kg with a trading volume of 196 lots.

NCDEX Agri Tips for February 27, 2014

CHANA
  • Chana prices rose by 0.75 per cent to Rs 3,084 per quintal in futures trade today as traders enlarged their holdings on account of good demand in the spot markets.
  • At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for May delivery rose by Rs 23, or 0.75 per cent, to Rs 3,084 per quintal, with an open interest for 31,100 lots.
  • Similarly, chana for delivery in April increased by Rs 21, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 3,042 per quintal, with an open interest of 81,800 lots.
CARDAMOM
  • Cardamom prices rose 1.18 per cent to Rs 842 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions on firm demand in the spot markets.
  • Further, restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the uptrend.
  • At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April rose Rs 9.90, or 1.18 per cent, to Rs 842 per kg, with a business turnover of 227 lots. Similarly, the spice for delivery in March jumped Rs 9, or 1.12 per cent, to Rs 811 per kg, with trading volume of 487 lots.

NCDEX Agri Tips for February 26, 2014

CHANA
  • Chana remained higher for the second straight day and prices rose further by Rs 10 to Rs 3,072 per quintal in futures traded today as speculators enlarged positions, supported by rising demand in the spot market.
  • At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in May added Rs 10, or 0.33 per cent to Rs 3,072 per quintal with an open interest of 30,710 lots. 
  • On the similar lines, the commodity for delivery in April traded higher by Rs 9, or 0.30 per cent to Rs 3,032 per quintal in 82,570 lots.
CARDAMOM
  • Cardamom prices fell by 0.63 per cent to Rs 777 per kg in futures trading today as speculators offloaded positions amid sluggish demand at prevailing higher levels in the spot market.
  • Adequate stocks position in the physical market due to increased arrivals from producing belts also weighed on cardamom futures.
  • At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March fell by Rs 4.90, or 0.63 per cent to Rs 777 per kg in business turnover of 169 lots.
  •  Similarly, the spice for delivery in April shed Rs 4.20, or 0.52 per cent to Rs 807.90 per kg in 88 lots.
